Research Article:
This article presents, in detail, the original results or innovative findings of a research project. Research articles will be structured according to the previous section ("General Text Format"). There is no word limit, and up to 40 bibliographic references may be included.
Short Communication:
This article is a short article to publish preliminary, novel, and timely findings that may have a significant impact on the area of study.
Preparation and submission of a short communication article: This article will be limited to 4,500 words, including the abstract (in Spanish and English), introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, references (up to 40 may be included), and figure captions. The word count must be indicated on the cover page. No more than four figures and/or tables may be included. The format can be organized according to the structure proposed in the "General Text Format." The cover page is not included in the word count.
Review Article:
Retrospective analysis of studies compiled in the literature on a topic of interest to a general or specialized audience.
Preparation and submission of a review article: It will be limited to 8,000 words and must include an abstract with the characteristics described in the "General Text Format" and, preferably, the structure proposed therein: introduction, body of work (with subheadings the author deems appropriate), methods, discussion, and conclusion. Additional subdivisions may be added if deemed necessary. Up to 80 bibliographic references may be included.
Case Report:
Highlights unique cases of human or animal patients who present with an unexpected diagnosis, treatment outcome, or clinical course.
Preparation and submission of a case report: They must be a maximum of 3,000 words and may include up to four figures and/or tables. They must comply with the following format: 1) summary and abstract, 2) introduction, 3) methods, 4) results, 5) discussion, 6) conclusion, 7) acknowledgments, 8) declaration of conflicts of interest, and 9) references. In the case of research involving humans, attach the informed consent of the study subject. Up to 20 bibliographic references may be included.
